Test Prep New York, a high-performance coaching and test preparation company based in New York, has developed an Intensive Verbal Reasoning and Writing Program for the MCAT. It is a highly specialized course devoted exclusively to understanding and mastering the Verbal Reasoning and Writing sections on the MCAT.
If you've had any exposure to the MCAT, you probably already know that the Verbal Reasoning section is very difficult -- harder than the verbal sections of most other standardized tests. The passages are complex and deliberately focus on unfamiliar topics, and the questions ask you to speculate and reason two or three steps beyond what was said in the text. The essay questions ask you to do complex logical reasoning in a very limited time. Test Prep New York's intensive course is designed to teach you how to handle the specific things that make these sections of the MCAT challenging.

This course was originally commissioned by a major New York City university and created by leading linguists, writers and educators, who also teach the course. This course is distinguished by its comprehensive understanding of the architecture of these sections and a systematic approach to answering the questions correctly, yielding your highest score. As a result of the course's success, TPNY is working with the university to create additional courses. This course is absolutely indispensable for any test taker (including ESL students) who finds these sections challenging.

Course Outline & Additional Features
- 7 week program: Beginning late May through June*
- 28 hours of scheduled live, on-line classroom time taught by TPNY premier tutors
- 20 hours devoted to the verbal reasoning
- 8 hours writing instruction
- Meetings take place twice a week: 2 hours for each class.*

Registered students will take an MCAT Verbal Reasoning diagnostic test and write 2 essays prior to the start date in order for us to evaluate your strengths and weaknesses, and fine tune the upcoming lessons to meet individual and group needs.
During the on-line sessions, students will be able to interact with the tutor via voice, conference board or instant-messages. Additional email support is included. Each student will submit a total of 8 essays, each hand graded with constructive feedback. Materials include two diagnostic tests, the TPNY Writing and Verbal Reasoning Intensive manual and Study Guide , and customized worksheets and homework. Each student receives a headset with microphone.
The fee for this course is $799, payable by check or credit card. We will send each student interested an enrollment form to sign up.
Due to the limited number of places available, a non-refundable $300 deposit is required to guarantee your enrollment (once the exact program dates have been confirmed.) The remaining balance will be due on or before the first on-line session. Once we have received your deposit, advance materials will be sent to you as well as directions for the first on-line diagnostic test and the advance evaluation essays. Your deposit is 100% refundable if for any reason TPNY were to not offer the course.
